Treatments
We offer the following orthodontic treatments:
While the method used varies by treatment type, all of our treatments follow a similar procedure.
During the initial consultation, a complimentary OPG (x-ray) is taken. From here, the dentist or orthodontist will advise you on what type of orthodontics is best suited to you.
They will provide information about the treatment, prices and the length of treatment. Depending on the treatment plan, there will be certain appointments booked after the consultation.
If you will be wearing a removable orthodontic device, then follow these instructions to ensure you get the most from your treatment.
From here appointments are usually every 4 weeks for an orthodontic adjustment. 6 month braces can range from 6-9 months.
A more comprehensive orthodontic treatment can range from 1 year to 2 years depending on a person's teeth and bite.

Equipment Used
We have a variety of high quality equipment that is used. 3Dental has a great range of advanced technology.
We have an Itero scanner for Invisalign scans which is a digital scanner sent directly to Invisalign.
Impressions which are taken for study models or pre ortho appliances are sent directly to our own in house lab.
There are various types of orthodontic appliances that are used at 3Dental - such as an expander, a HBO and a sander.

What does an orthodontist do?
An orthodontist is a specialist in dentistry. Orthodontists deal with diagnosis and correction of misplaced teeth and jaw.
They correct bites, occlusions and align teeth using non surgical methods where applicable.
What is the difference between a dentist and an orthodontist?
A dentist and orthodontist are both qualified dentists but an orthodontist is a specialist in the alignment and correction of teeth.
A dentist takes care of your overall oral health care.
A dentist will provide you with a treatment plan if any fillings, cleanings, x-rays or other dental work is needed.
How much are braces in Ireland?
Depending on what type of orthodontics you are aiming for there is a very broad price range for orthodontics. 6 month braces can range between €1,400-€2,400.
Comprehensive braces can range from €2,200-€4,500.
3Dental orthodontic prices are extremely competitive in comparison to other orthodontic practices and we have no hidden costs.
View our orthodontic price list page for more information.
Can an orthodontist pull teeth?
No, an orthodontist does not perform extractions.
If extractions are needed, the orthodontist will refer you to a general dentist to have the teeth removed.
Do braces move your teeth everyday?
Yes, you will feel slight movement everyday but it will be very small. Over time you will start to see a significant difference.
The first few days of braces or an appliance can be tender but you will never have extreme pain.
What procedures do orthodontists perform?
An orthodontist aims to straighten teeth and correct misplaced bites. Therefore, they use braces or a removable appliance (Invisalign) to straighten teeth.
If a pre-orthodontic appliance is needed you will be advised of this on the day of the consultation.
What is the fastest way to straighten teeth?
This question is a very common question, but everyone is different.
Braces and Invisalign have an average time frame but depending on the teeth, one option could be shorter than the other.
When you come in for your complimentary consultation, the option of which type of orthodontics can be discussed with you and the length of time for each.
Can you do Invisalign with a missing tooth?
Yes you can. Invisalign is very advanced on what the aligners and technology can do.
If you are eligible to have Invisalign, this would be a good option to hide a missing front tooth while you wait for a more permanent long term solution.
We are able to fill the missing front tooth with resin, to hide a gap.
