The Implant Process at 3 Dental
At your initial consultation you will meet our implant dentist and discuss the problems you are experiencing with your mouth. He will complete a dental examination including any x-rays or scans as is necessary to make a full and accurate diagnosis. He will then discuss the findings and the possible treatment options in your particular case.
On the day of your consultation a treatment plan with clearly specified costs will be tailored to your needs and presented to you. You can ask as many questions as you like about your treatment options and we will answer them as best we can. We aim to be completely open and honest with you. In more complicated cases we may need to take moulds of your mouth to fully assess the treatment options, and arrange a further appointment to discuss a week or two later.
On the day of implant placement your treatment will be carried out under local anaesthetic (numbing the gums) or with sedation if you are a nervous patient. The procedure is carried out in our dedicated implant suite, under sterile conditions, and afterwards you will be advised on how to care for your mouth over the coming days.
We will contact you the day after your surgery to see how you are doing and put your mind at ease if you have any worries.
When your implant has bonded in your mouth, we will begin to make the final crown/bridge/denture. This can take a variable number of visits and we will advise you at the start of your treatment when you might expect to be finished.
We like to keep you under review and make sure that your implant stays healthy. This can mean a dental exam, a cleaning with the hygienist, or an x-ray.
